Yep, you read that right…Carson got appendicitis at age 5?! I never knew you could get it that young. He had been puking non-stop (I’m talking every 40 minutes for like 18 hours straight! Poor kid just never stopped) and his stomach was in so much pain I took him into the doctor Monday as soon as they could fit us in. We were told that he likely had appendicitis, yikes! It was quite the scary experience for him (and his momma!) to go through…blood tests, a CT scan, getting an IV, general anesthesia, and then surgery! He went through it all like a super hero, without so much as a tear (I have to admit I cried more than him- it just broke my heart to see my little guy go through some of that stuff…but I am definitely a “chronic softie”).
After 3 nights at the hospital Carson was released the next day and has been improving ever since. Although he’s not “supposed” to do anything active…how in the world do you keep a 5 year old from being just that…a typical 5 year old who…runs, jumps, kicks a ball, throws a ball, rides a bike, and so on?! This has been the toughest part for us so far- keeping him from doing anything that’s deemed “too much” for right now.
Today he’s at school and SO happy to be back.

Any five year old who can slam appendicitis is totally hard core in my book. Atta boy, Carson!
Wow...I must admit that the picture of him smiling in that bed, which makes him look so-o-o small, just choked me up for him. What a trouper, having such heart for this adventure!
I hope he's recovering O.K.! What a crazy thing to have happen!
We are so happy he's back in ACTION!
Holy moly! That's crazy. Glad he's recovering!
