We went to Posh & Gramma’s (Mandy’s parents) for Christmas Eve along with 3 of my 4 siblings and their kiddos…we had a grand total of 9 grandkids and 9 adults. The atmosphere at the house reminded me of the opening scene in the movie “Home Alone” with tons of grown-ups and kids going every which way doing every which thing with a constant level of chatter/laughing. I wish it could have lasted forever it was that fun!
We were able to get in a “Christmas service project” this year. We went down to the tree farm and loaded up some firewood then delivered it to some people in need. The kids had a great time (slivers, mud, and all) and we even got to walk into the forest to see a waterfall!
Posh & Gramma bought some new “toys” for the kids… RC trucks. With their newly paved driveway (which is pretty dang long!) it was a great activity. Then there’s always 4-wheeler rides galore! Below is Uncle Daniel with Emmett and Lucy.
For a few years now we’ve made it a tradition to go bowling on Christmas eve. It’s a great family activity and the bowling alley is always pretty deserted…imagine that?!
Emmett was very proud of his efforts saying, “I did it, all by myself!” Below is Carson watching to see how many pins he’s going to knock over.
Being lunchtime right after our energy depleting bowling games we gave in to the kids and hit Burger King…yyyuum.
Can you go to BK
without getting a crown?!
Our other highly anticipated Christmas tradition is…BINGO! We all pitch in random gifts we’ve gathered throughout the year and then each time you get a bingo you get to unwrap one…it could be a watch, some candy, a teapot, cute tissues, or a puzzle! It’s a great time had by all!
This year, upon Uncle Seth’s eager urging, we (or should I say Seth & Posh) built a big fire down at the fire pit and we all bundled up and went down to sing Christmas carols around the campfire. I
may or
may not have complained a little about going down when it was so cold… however it was such a great time and I loved it! I think this one should become a tradition too!
After this we went up and had a delicious Christmas Eve dinner, watched “Luke 2” (a short movie about Jesus Christ’s birth), and then we each opened 1 gift. The kids were tired enough that it wasn’t too long before they were “nestled all snug in their beds while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.” Santa indeed came and Christmas morning was one heck of a wrapping paper-excited squeals-thank you saying mess…and we loved every minute of it!

It was truly the bomb. Wish it was still Christmas!
Love the Service Project idea. You are so lucky to be by both sets of Grandparents.
