Fall equals…PARTIES! & random “I’m going to spend all day in a costume” days

Hi, my name is Mandy and I am addicted to parties. They are a lot of work & usually end up being more expensive than I planned…but they are ALWAYS fun! This fall I decided to steal a friends party idea and celebrate “Oktoberfest.” However, being LDS, we had our own spin on it with “gourmet Root Beer tasting” instead of any alcoholic beverages. Everyone invited brought a German inspired dish to share. I made these beautiful pretzels from a German recipe I found online…they turned out better than any pretzel I have ever tasted…no joke! I am not trying to sing my own praises here- it’s all because I followed a fabulous recipe…but no doubt I will be making these babies again soon!  After filling our bellies with yummy food and lot’s of fizzy root beer, we played some games and had an all around great time with each other. I even made a “CD mix” of Oktoberfest music to play in the background…complete with the chicken dance of course!

Pulling out the costumes in October means that our kiddos choose days where they dress up and they just wear that for the day…your kids do that too, right? I never fight them on it because I think it’s cute and really, who cares what their kids are wearing, “right?”

Carson as Spidey…Graham joined him this day in his Spiderman jammies. Pajamas all day is okay if they’re Spiderman, “right?”

After going to Disneyland Graham now LOVES princesses…almost as much as Lucy does. Something about meeting them in person and in all their beautifulness, them kneeling down to give him a hug- they all seriously loved our little red head! He found the Belle costume his size and chose to wear it for about 3-4 days straight. even while eating Oreo’s (above), and reading books (below).P1020065 (480x640)

One afternoon Lucy wore the red wig, the witch hat & cape around…while in dress-up high heels that were about 10 sizes too big!P1020126 (480x640)

The kids had a Halloween Party with some friends. We dressed up and played lot’s of Halloween themed games. For lunch we ate “monster toes dipped in blood, eyeballs, monster poop, and monster pee to drink” (breaded lil’ smokies w/ ketchup, grapes, cheeto puff balls, and apple juice) with a “candy corn” pudding dessert.

Our kids do that with costumes too. I love it when they wear them to run errands with me. We will miss these days!
Love parties except having Adam as the Bishop I worry if I don't invite the whole dang ward that someone will be offended or think we're clicky so I just end up not doing it. Any advice......?
Oktoberfest sounds really fun. Great ideas and yummy too.
