Camping at Bruneau Dunes State Park

Brunaeu Dunes is the largest sand dune in North America, and it's right here in good ol' Idaho, just outside of Mountain Home (about an hour +15 min. drive from Boise). We decided to go for one more camping trip before the summer weather ended. This was our first time camping with just our little family so we were a bit nervous...we had a blast!

We came down Friday after Todd got off work. We spent Saturday afternoon swimming at one of the lakes by the big dune. It was perfect weather and the lake is so shallow quite a ways out, so the kids loved it!

Carson and Lucy...water dogs for sure! They would swim all day if we let them.Graham loved it just as much as the big kids. He crawled around in the shallow water forever. Don't let his t-shirt throw you off, it was plenty warm out (85ish degrees) I just worry about my little red-head burning so I cover as much as I can comfortably. And...no burns for anyone, yeah!

There's an observatory there that is open every night. We visited it for some kids crafts in the morning and then went back at night to see the moon, stars and all kinds of night beauty. Boy, you can sure see a lot of stars when you're out in the middle of nowhere!
Lucy & Carson...they truly are the best of buds!

Eating...

An awesome perk for me was that Todd did the cooking the whole entire weekend! Love him! And he did a fabulous job...this is Lucy loving his yummy breakfast...eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns- what a treat! The kidlets hanging out by the fire. Helping with the fire was Carson's favorite part.We woke up Saturday morning to a gorgeous sunrise!

What's better than cooked marshmallows and s'mores?...not much! (we discovered a new fave s'more...squish the marshmallow between two keebler fudge striped cookies...WAY better than choc. squares & graham crackers and WAY easier!)

It's fun to see the kids in coats around a fire. We had our fisrt cold weather of the year today, it was a chilly 68 degrees when we went outside at 7 am. all the Floridians are wearing jackets. Sometimes I miss true cold, where campfires and jackets feel all warm and cozy, and don't make you sweat. -Adam
